**Job Title**
Linux System Administrator
**Role Summary**
Senior IT professional responsible for the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and security of Linux servers and network infrastructure. Works closely with development and operations teams to ensure high availability, performance, and automated delivery pipelines.
**Expectations**
- Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in a similar role.
- Proven track record in production‑critical environments.
- Comfortable with virtualized platforms and storage solutions.
- Proactive, self‑motivated, and capable of proposing improvements.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Install, configure, and harden Linux servers (Ubuntu, Debian, Red Hat).
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and service configurations.
- Perform regular system updates, patches, and security hardening.
- Monitor server performance and network availability; respond to alerts.
- Oversee backup and restore procedures for servers and data.
- Secure network devices (routers, switches, VPN) and manage networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Diagnose and resolve system and network incidents.
- Script and automate deployments, routine tasks, and configuration changes (Python, Bash/Shell).
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and continuous integration processes.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize infrastructure for application performance.
- Produce and maintain accurate technical documentation.
**Required Skills**
- Advanced knowledge of Linux system administration (Ubuntu, Debian, Red Hat).
- Strong command‑line proficiency and Shell scripting.
- Familiarity with network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching).
- Understanding of system security best practices and hardening techniques.
- Experience with virtualization (VMware, KVM, etc.) and storage systems.
- Ability to automate tasks using Python, Bash, or similar tools.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Relevant certifications preferred: Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator (LFCS), Red‑Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), CCNA or equivalent networking credential.
