Job Description
**Job Title** Access and Privacy Analyst **Role Summary** Provide expert advice, direction and recommendations on the application of the Health Information Privacy and Management Act (HIPMA) and the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (ATIPPA). Support the Manager of Access and Information Management in processing information requests, evaluating disclosure decisions, and investigating privacy breaches and complaints. **Expectations** Fulfill a full‑time position (75 hrs bi‑weekly) for up to 12 months. Work independently and collaboratively, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism while handling sensitive health information. **Key Responsibilities** - Interpret HIPMA, ATIPPA, Child and Family Services Act, Vital Statistics Act, and other relevant legislation. - Advise senior leadership on legal requirements and policy implications. - Respond to public access request and disclosure inquiries, ensuring compliance with statutory timelines. - Investigate and resolve privacy breaches and complaints, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions. - Maintain detailed case records, prepare reports, and assist in audits and reviews. - Provide guidance to staff on privacy and access issues, promoting best practices. - Manage multiple, time‑sensitive case files with precision and attention to detail. **Required Skills** - Strong legislative interpretation and analytical abilities. - Excellent research, writing and presentation skills. - High level of confidentiality, tact and discretion. - Time‑management and organization; ability to handle multiple concurrent cases. - Proficient in Microsoft Office and case‑management software. - Effective communicator with both staff and the public. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in law, public administration, health information management, criminology or related field. - Professional certifications related to privacy, information governance, or health data management are advantageous. - Equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
