Job Description
**Job Title:** Linux Systems Engineer **Role Summary:** Provide operational IT support for the Guiana Space Centre by maintaining Linux‑based systems, resolving Level‑2/3 technical incidents, and acting as the technical reference for Linux environments. Develop and implement automation, backup, and restoration tools, produce technical documentation, enforce standards, and ensure service quality and launch‑schedule coverage. **Expectations:** - Minimum 4 years of experience in Linux system administration and incident management. - Strong expertise in real‑time computing environments. - Proven ability to work autonomously, respond quickly, and take ownership of responsibilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying complex technical information. - Team‑oriented with solid interpersonal skills. **Key Responsibilities:** - Maintain operational IT systems for the space centre, ensuring high availability. - Diagnose and resolve Level‑2 and Level‑3 incidents on Linux/UNIX platforms. - Serve as technical expert and reference for Linux infrastructure. - Design and deploy automation scripts/tools for preventive maintenance. - Implement and manage backup and restoration procedures. - Contribute to technical evolution projects and system upgrades. - Produce and update technical documentation, standards, and procedures. - Ensure coverage of critical launch timelines and uphold service quality and client satisfaction. **Required Skills:** - Linux/UNIX system administration (user‑level proficiency). - Knowledge of real‑time operating systems. - Scripting/programming: Bash, AWK, Python. - Familiarity with Windows office tools. - Incident handling (L2/L3 support) and root‑cause analysis. - Automation and configuration‑management concepts. - Backup, recovery, and disaster‑recovery processes. - Strong organizational, methodological, and analytical abilities. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Engineering degree, Master’s degree, or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. - Relevant certifications (e.g., Linux Professional Institute Certification, Red Hat Certified Engineer) are advantageous but not mandatory.
