Job Description
**Job Title:** Staff System Engineer **Role Summary:** Lead technical champion for high‑performance LiDAR systems, integrating hardware, optics, software, and simulation to deliver optimal product performance across diverse use cases. Work closely with engineering, field applications, and customers to refine system capabilities, provide training, and support field integration. **Expectations:** * Become subject‑matter expert on LiDAR products. * Design experiments, collect data, validate performance under varied conditions. * Conduct product demonstrations and training workshops. * Resolve technical inquiries and field support tickets efficiently. * Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation. * Drive continuous improvement through collaboration and customer feedback. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. Analyze and optimize LiDAR performance for specific missions and environments. 2. Design and execute experiments, record and process data for validation. 3. Provide demonstrations, workshops, and technical support to customers. 4. Collaborate with hardware, firmware, algorithms, and simulation teams to drive performance gains. 5. Document technical details for internal and external stakeholders. 6. Gather customer feedback to guide product enhancements and strategic decisions. 7. Troubleshoot integration challenges in the field and coordinate resolution. **Required Skills:** * In‑depth knowledge of LiDAR hardware, optics, and system architecture. * Proficiency in optical simulation tools (LightTools, Zemax, Code‑V) and multi‑physics simulation (COMSOL Multiphysics, Ansys, Lumerical). * Strong background in algorithm development, simulations, and signal/image processing using MATLAB or Python. * Ability to handle complex coupled simulations and analyze large data sets. * Solid understanding of statistics, linear algebra, and theoretical foundations. * Experience building optical systems, including LiDAR. * Excellent communication, cross‑functional collaboration, and fast learning. **Required Education & Certifications:** * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field *and* ≥8 years of LiDAR or sensor experience. * OR Master’s degree with ≥6 years of LiDAR experience. * OR PhD with ≥3 years of LiDAR experience. ---
