QA & Playtest Engineer
Job Description
Job title: QA & Playtest Engineer Role Summary: Evaluate real‑time interactive experiences by performing experiential manual testing, identifying qualitative issues, and producing clear bug reports. Collaborate with engineering and creative teams to define functional quality from a user perspective and support regression. Expectations: 5–8–week contract of 2‑3 days per week, with a strong path to full‑time. Align testing with core user flows, punctuality in reporting, and capability to manage independent priorities. Key Responsibilities: • Manually test live interactive experiences, focusing on core user flows, session continuity, and state consistency. • Identify qualitative issues (pacing, responsiveness, clarity) beyond crashes. • Write concise bug reports with reproducible steps and expected vs. actual behavior. • Define and protect critical “must‑not‑break” flows. • Verify fixes and regressions with engineers. • Contribute to lightweight regression and smoke test plans. • Suggest basic automation or tooling improvements. Required Skills: • 3+ years QA or playtest experience on interactive or real‑time systems. • Strong manual testing instincts with attention to experiential detail. • User‑centric thinking combined with engineer‑level debugging. • Expertise in clear written communication and structured bug reporting. • Experience working closely with small engineering teams. • Ability to operate independently and prioritize testing work. Preferred Skills: • Game, simulation, or real‑time application testing experience. • Familiarity with Unity, Unreal, or other game engines. • Exposure to test automation tools or CI pipelines. • Experience testing products in open beta or live environments. Required Education & Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; or equivalent practical experience. Any QA or automation certifications are a plus.
