Job Description

Job Title: Software Asset Manager Role Summary: Lead the strategy and execution of Software Asset Management (SAM) to ensure licensing compliance, optimize spend, and mitigate risk across the organization. Expectations: Maintain up‑to‑date inventories, enforce licensing policies, and collaborate cross‑functionally with procurement, IT, legal, finance, and security to support procurement, deployment, and audit processes. Key Responsibilities: - Develop, implement, and maintain SAM policies and procedures. - Maintain comprehensive inventory of software licenses, contracts, and entitlements. - Monitor usage to ensure compliance and identify cost‑saving opportunities. - Coordinate software acquisition, renewals, and vendor negotiations. - Support internal audits and legal inquiries related to software compliance. - Track software lifecycle from acquisition to retirement. - Analyze usage data to identify trends, underutilization, and consolidation opportunities. - Maintain relationships with key software vendors and ensure proper licensing documentation. - Provide regular reporting and dashboards on usage, compliance status, and spend. - Collaborate with IT and security teams on deployment strategies and governance. - Lead Asset and Configuration Management workshops. Required Skills: - 3‑5 years of experience in SAM, IT asset management, or related field. - Proficiency with asset management tools (ServiceNow, Flexera, Snow, SCCM). - Knowledge of ITIL or other ITSM frameworks (preferred). - Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills. - Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement. - Attention to detail, data accuracy, and risk mitigation. - Contract and vendor management, strategic cost optimization, cross‑functional collaboration, effective reporting and analytics. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree (any discipline). - Active Secret DoD Security Clearance required. - Must be a U.S. citizen and pass a background check. ---
