Job Description
**Job Title:** Sr. Manager, Cloud and Infrastructure Engineering **Role Summary:** Drive enterprise cloud and on‑prem infrastructure strategy for a research and standards organization. Lead a multidisciplinary team to modernize, automate, and secure hybrid environments (Azure, AWS, on‑prem, HPC) that support scientific research, AI, and digital workflows. **Expectations:** - Set long‑term cloud/infrastructure roadmap aligned with organizational priorities. - Deliver measurable improvements in scalability, reliability, security, and cost efficiency. - Foster a culture of continuous improvement, automation, and high performance across all platforms. **Key Responsibilities:** - Define and execute multi‑year cloud adoption and data center transformation plans. - Establish engineering standards, policies, and best practices for infrastructure, IaC, CI/CD, and container orchestration. - Lead FinOps initiatives to optimize spend, budgeting, and chargebacks. - Design, implement, and maintain hybrid and cloud‑native platforms for AI and high‑performance workloads. - Govern managed service providers, set KPIs/OKRs, and lead incident/post‑mortem and disaster recovery processes. - Collaborate with Architecture, Security, Digital Platforms, and Operations to ensure integration and interoperability. - Mentor and develop a high‑performing team of cloud, system, and HPC engineers. **Required Skills:** - Strong expertise in Azure and AWS cloud architecture. - Hands‑on experience with HPC, AI/analytics workloads, and cloud‑native platforms. - Proficiency in IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM), CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration (Kubernetes), and configuration management (Ansible, Chef). - Financial acumen for FinOps and cost optimization. - Knowledge of security frameworks, compliance, and risk management. - Proven leadership and people‑management skills in a technical team. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. - Professional certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, and/or Cloud Security Professional. - Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in cloud and infrastructure architecture and team management.
