Job Description
**Job Title:** Financial Controller (12‑month maternity cover) **Role Summary:** Senior finance leader reporting to the CFO, responsible for day‑to‑day accounting operations, IFRS‑based period‑end close, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and implementation of a new accounting ERP system. Leads a team of five accountants in a fast‑growing public company environment. **Expectations:** - Deliver accurate, timely financial statements and reports in accordance with IFRS. - Successfully manage ERP system rollout and related process changes. - Maintain robust internal controls and compliance with tax, statutory, and audit requirements. - Provide hands‑on leadership, coaching, and development for the accounting team. - Partner closely with CFO and Finance Director as a peer finance leader. **Key Responsibilities:** - Own month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes and produce consolidated financial statements. - Oversee daily accounting functions (AP, AR, general ledger, cash management). - Lead the design, configuration, testing, and migration of a new accounting ERP platform. - Account for complex transactions including revenue recognition, lease accounting, and other technical areas. - Prepare and present financial reports and schedules to internal and external stakeholders. - Ensure compliance with tax filings, statutory reporting, and audit requirements; coordinate with external auditors. - Develop, monitor, and improve internal control frameworks. - Manage, mentor, and evaluate a team of five direct reports, fostering accountability and professional growth. - Contribute to ad‑hoc financial analysis and broader finance initiatives as needed. **Required Skills:** - Strong knowledge of IFRS, revenue recognition, lease accounting, and related technical accounting standards. - Proven experience leading period‑end close and producing financial statements for a public company. - Hands‑on ERP implementation experience (preferably SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar). - Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities. - Effective leadership and people‑management skills; ability to coach and develop staff. - High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines. - Proficient in MS Excel and accounting software; strong communication skills (written and verbal). **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required). - CPA, CA, CMA, or equivalent professional accounting certification (required). - Additional IFRS or ERP certification is a plus.
