Founded in 1973, National Health Foundation is a nonprofit that works within under-resourced Southern California communities to eliminate barriers to health, address the root causes of poor health, and find solutions that lead to lasting change. Embracing the guiding philosophy that health begins where we live, learn, work and play, the organization’s advocacy and work focuses on four key areas: housing, food access, built environment and education. Job Description
Job Title: Social Media Intern Role Summary: Provide 5–10 hours per week of social media support for a public‑health nonprofit. Create, edit, and publish engaging digital content across Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X (Twitter), and YouTube to promote initiatives in social determinants of health. Monitor community engagement, track performance metrics, and assist in campaign planning and execution. Expectations: - Deliver high‑quality visual and written content on schedule. - Adhere to the organization’s brand voice and mission. - Collaborate with team members and external partners. - Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of social media trends and health equity topics. Key Responsibilities: - Design graphics, reels, and short videos using Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud. - Produce “impact stories” through interviews with staff, community members, and program participants. - Assist in planning and launching digital campaigns for events such as Giving Tuesday and National Public Health Week. - Monitor comments, messages, and partner posts; respond in a timely, empathetic manner. - Collect and report monthly engagement metrics to inform strategy adjustments. - Conduct ongoing research on emerging platforms, features, and public‑health news relevant to target audiences. Required Skills: - Proficiency with Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X (Twitter), and YouTube. - Experience with Canva; familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (Spark, Photoshop, etc.) preferred. - Strong written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail. - Basic video editing proficiency (CapCut, TikTok Reels, etc.) a plus. - Ability to conduct interviews sensitively and craft concise, compelling narratives. - Demonstrated capacity to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities. Required Education & Certifications: - Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a closely related field. ---
