**Job Title:**
Data Scientist Intern (2026)
**Role Summary:**
Interns will work within IBM Business Platform Transformation to apply foundational AI, machine learning, and analytics techniques to real enterprise problems. They will support end‑to‑end data science projects, including data preparation, model development, and insights delivery, while learning cloud, MLOps, and ethical AI practices.
**Expectations:**
- Gain hands‑on experience with Python, SQL, and mainstream data‑science libraries (NumPy, Pandas, scikit‑learn, matplotlib, Seaborn).
- Develop an understanding of GenAI, traditional ML, NLP, and predictive analytics concepts.
- Learn to transform business questions into technical tasks and analytical approaches.
- Understand cloud platforms, scalability, and deployment basics.
- Engage in agile ceremonies, track progress, and communicate findings through visualizations and concise reports.
- Apply basic MLOps concepts and AI ethics principles under guidance.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Assist in design and implementation of AI‑driven solutions aligned with business requirements.
2. Support data collection, cleaning, and preprocessing for structured and unstructured datasets.
3. Develop and evaluate machine‑learning models (regression, decision trees, simple neural networks).
4. Create visualizations, dashboards, and summaries to convey insights to stakeholders.
5. Participate in agile planning, stand‑ups, and retrospectives.
6. Track tasks, raise risks or questions to mentors, and help define metrics/KPIs.
7. Collaborate with data engineers, software developers, and other team members to integrate AI solutions.
8. Adhere to IBM data‑science standards and reusable asset guidelines.
**Required Skills:**
- Working knowledge of Python and SQL.
- Introductory understanding of statistics, ML, and AI concepts.
- Familiarity with NumPy, Pandas, scikit‑learn, matplotlib, Seaborn.
- Basic exposure to large language models and generative AI.
- Strong problem‑solving mindset, curiosity, attention to detail.
- Clear communication of technical concepts.

**Required Education & Certifications:**
