Job Title: Systems Engineer Intern – Summer 2026
Role Summary
Internally supports Visa’s Operations & Infrastructure organization by delivering host‑software configuration management to developer teams and providing infrastructure reliability for storage and backup systems. Assignments include first‑level environment support, mainframe modernization assistance, storage/SAN maintenance, and automation of repeatable tasks.
Expectations
- Work as part of either the Developer Experience team or the Infrastructure Reliability team.
- Contribute to project plans, meet deadlines, and provide clear documentation.
- Serve as a point of contact for troubleshooting and escalation.
- Automate infrastructure processes using SRE principles and Infrastructure‑as‑Code practices.
Key Responsibilities
**Developer Experience**
- Provide 1st‑level support for mainframe environment setup, user access, and issue resolution.
- Compile, migrate, and install source code on TPF platform using Endevor and SLiMS.
- Support transition to DevOps practices and integration of new distributed tools.
- Draft documentation, reports, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Gather metrics and prepare audit reports.
**Infrastructure Reliability (Storage Operations)**
- Maintain security, availability, and performance of SAN, NAS, and backup infrastructure.
- Automate provisioning, replication, disaster recovery, and migration tasks with scripting.
- Serve as Level‑2 escalation point for storage and backup issues.
- Document configurations and changes in line with procedural models.
- Coordinate with Systems, Database, Engineering, Asset Management, and Risk teams.
Required Skills
- Experience in infrastructure support or strong interest in storage engineering.
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, Go, etc.) for infrastructure automation.
- Knowledge of IBM mainframe technologies (MVS, JCL, REXX, CLIST, ISPF).
- Familiarity with software configuration management tools and life‑cycle practices.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Required Education & Certifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, CIS/MIS, Cybersecurity, or related field; expected graduation December 2026 – August 2027.
- Foundational programming knowledge (Python, Golang, Bash, COBOL, Visual Basic, Java, C/C++, YAML) is preferred.
