Our mission is to contribute to the empowerment of the 525 million smallholder farmers, who produce 80% of our food supply, and yet they sell their produce for less than the cost.

Collectively we are disrupting the food supply chain and the multi-trillion-dollar food tech industry.

Hindered by outdated distribution systems and limited resources, smallholders face significant losses, with estimates indicating that between 30-40% of their harvest goes to waste due to logistical challenges and market inefficiencies.

R-ainbow serves as a dynamic online marketplace seamlessly connecting small producers with buyers in real time. It leverages factors such as product availability, location, and stock levels to facilitate efficient and cost-effective transactions. The App endeavors to simplify the process of buying and selling produce, making it accessible, convenient, and sustainable for all parties involved.

Job Description

Job Title: Back End Developer Role Summary: Design, develop, and maintain scalable server‑side services using NestJS, ensuring high performance, data integrity, and integration with mobile and web front‑ends. Expectations: Self‑motivated, multi‑tasking team player capable of delivering software on schedule in an Agile environment. Expected to mentor peers, participate in code reviews, and translate user feedback into functional features. Key Responsibilities: - Develop new backend features in NestJS and JavaScript. - Implement and maintain API endpoints, database schemas, and business logic. - Apply OOP principles and design patterns to create robust, reusable components. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate requirements into code. - Perform code reviews, pair programming, and mentor junior engineers. - Optimize performance and scalability; design system architecture and algorithms. - Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand‑ups, sprints, retrospectives). - Ensure unit, integration, and system tests are comprehensive and automated. Required Skills: - 2+ years of professional backend development experience. - Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), OOP, and NestJS framework. - Deep understanding of RESTful API design, GraphQL, and authentication/authorization. - Experience with relational/NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB). - Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and cloud deployment (AWS, Azure, GCP). - Familiarity with mobile backend integration (React Native/Flutter). - Proficient in Agile methodologies and version control (Git). - Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience. - No mandatory certifications, though knowledge of AWS Certified Developer or similar is a plus.
