Job Description
Job Title: Mechanical Handling Instructor Role Summary: Provide comprehensive training, instruction, and assessment of warehouse partners and agency personnel on the safe and efficient use of mechanical handling equipment. Maintain accurate training records, ensure compliance with legal, health and safety, and operational standards, and promote a culture of continuous safety improvement within the distribution centre. Expectations: - Deliver consistent, high‑quality training aligned with partnership values. - Maintain up‑to‑date training and competency records for all participants. - Adhere strictly to legal, health‑safety, and operational procedures. - Communicate issues and progress to management promptly. - Exhibit strong coaching, communication, and organisational skills under pressure. Key Responsibilities: - Implement and update the training standard across all RDCs. - Conduct thorough inductions for new partners and agency staff. - Administer theory tests using correct aids in the proper environment; record results. - Perform routine warehouse operational tasks, meeting productivity targets and safety guidelines. - Complete required paperwork accurately and on time. - Report injuries, accidents, and health‑safety concerns. - Provide refresher training as needed. - Promote and model best health‑safety practices, challenging procedures to achieve higher competency levels. Required Skills: - ITSSAR Category 1 MHE Instructor qualification. - Valid MGHE Operators Licence (or willingness to obtain). - Experience delivering training on mechanical handling equipment. - Excellent organisational and planning abilities. - Calm, decisive under pressure. - Clear, precise listening and communication skills at all levels. - Demonstrable coaching and mentoring skills. - Computer literacy with strong numeracy. - Physical stamina to meet job demands. Required Education & Certifications: - ITSSAR Category 1 Mechanical Handling Equipment Instructor. - Current MGHE Operator’s Licence. (Desirable additions: ITSSAR Category 4 Accredited Tutor, distribution‑centre experience, knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act.)
