Job Description
Job Title: Software Internship – AI & Battery Informatics Role Summary: Assists battery‑R&D teams by developing high‑performance data pipelines, computer‑vision models, and autonomous AI agents that streamline experimental data analysis and support physics‑based and ML‑based battery performance models. Expectations: - Deliver production‑grade code and scalable data solutions within a short internship period. - Collaborate closely with battery engineers and data scientists to translate research needs into software features. - Demonstrate rapid problem‑solving, strong coding practices, and adaptability to evolving project priorities. Key Responsibilities: - Build and deploy AI agents for experimental data management, including querying, summarizing, and insight generation. - Develop automated pipelines for SEM and other characterization workflows, extracting particle morphology, sizing, and defect information. - Design high‑throughput data architectures capable of processing large battery cycling and modeling datasets (out‑of‑memory processing). - Create backend services (FastAPI, Docker, K8s) and internal dashboards (Hex, React) to expose AI insights to broader teams. - Support physics‑based and ML‑model (transformers, GNNs) development by preparing and validating data inputs. - Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and maintain code quality and documentation. Required Skills: - Mastery of Python scientific libraries (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas). - Expertise with high‑performance data frameworks (Polars, Vaex, or Dask). - Experience building agentic workflows (LangGraph, CrewAI) and using cloud‑native AI services (e.g., Snowflake Cortex). - Proficiency in OpenCV or deep‑learning segmentation (SAM) for material imaging. - Comfortable with containerization (Docker), Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines. - Familiarity with AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Copilot) and Git collaboration. - Basic understanding of Li‑ion battery chemistry, materials processing, and electrochemical testing. Expectations: Commit to a 6+ month remote or onsite internship.
