**Job Title** Fleet Engineer **Role Summary** Lead a technical team responsible for the day‑to‑day maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of 40+ vehicles, including the integration of electric vehicles. Ensure vehicles meet high safety and quality standards while managing resources, stock and personnel within the Ardrossan & Arran depot. **Expectations** - Provide hands‑on leadership and mentorship for technicians and apprentices. - Maintain an effective maintenance schedule that supports continuous service delivery. - Manage depot resources, inventory and technical knowledge transfer. - Demonstrate flexibility, reliability and a commitment to continuous improvement. **Key Responsibilities** - Oversee and direct daily maintenance, repairs and inspections of all fleet vehicles. - Develop and implement maintenance plans, SOPs and safety procedures. - Supervise and coach a team of engineers/technicians and apprentices. - Manage spare parts inventory, ordering and cost control. - Coordinate with operational teams to minimise service disruption. - Lead the introduction and support of electric vehicle technology. - Perform root‑cause analysis, report on performance metrics and recommend improvements. - Ensure compliance with industry safety and environmental regulations. **Required Skills** - Proven team‑management experience in a technical environment. - Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills. - Knowledge of automotive maintenance for diesel, gas and electric vehicles. - Resource planning, inventory control and cost‑management. - Excellent communication, training and stakeholder‑management skills. - Ability to work flexible hours, including on‑road troubleshooting. **Required Education & Certifications** - NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Automotive/Mechanical Engineering or related field. - Relevant automotive technician qualifications (e.g., MOT, DVSA). - Knowledge or certification in electric vehicle servicing preferred. - Valid driving licence and clean driving record.
