Job Description

**Job Title** Underwriter, Financial Lines (6 Month FTC) **Role Summary** Work within the Equinox Lectio team to underwrite financial lines business, reviewing broker submissions, issuing offers, managing portfolio limits, and ensuring compliance with the Delegated Underwriting Agreement. Lead a small team, build broker and capacity provider relationships, and drive process efficiencies for cross‑class underwriting of Marine and Energy products. **Expectations** - 6‑month fixed‑term contract, hybrid (office & remote). - Deliver timely, accurate underwriting decisions and manage portfolio accumulation. - Meet set targets, maintain compliance, and contribute to continuous improvement. - Mentor junior underwriters and assist in knowledge transfer. **Key Responsibilities** - Assess broker submissions against DUA criteria; explain declines. - Generate formal offers and ensure line sizes comply with DUA limits. - Verify firm order slips, bind lines via PPL or Whitespace, and process final slips for insurers. - Review, agree or refer endorsements; aggregate reporting as required. - Manage portfolio limits, including catastrophe aggregate limits. - Build and maintain relationships with brokers, capacity providers, and insurers. - Lead and coach a team of Lectio underwriters and assistants. - Collaborate with Head of Cross‑Class to improve efficiency in marine and energy processes. - Participate in insurer and team meetings to review progress, set targets, and suggest improvements. - Support DUA renewal, endorsements, and data/report reviews. **Required Skills** - Minimum 2 years insurance underwriting experience, preferably in financial lines. - Familiarity with London MRC contract layout and underwriting submissions. - Strong negotiation, influencing, analytical, verbal and written communication. - Advanced MS Outlook, Word, Excel; PowerPoint a plus. - Detail‑oriented, able to manage multiple priorities, self‑motivated, and able to teach junior staff. **Required Education & Certifications** - A‑levels (or equivalent) with Maths and English passes; GCSE equivalent. - Minimum of two years undergraduate/qualifying insurance experience.
