Job Description
Job title: Plastic Surgery Nursing Associate Role Summary: A full‑time Band 4 Nursing Associate providing patient‑centred care in a plastic surgery ward and assessment unit. Supports surgeons, registered nurses and allied health professionals in medical, dressings and discharge planning, and assists in the major treatment room. Expectations: - Work 37.5 hours weekly, primarily 11.5‑hour shifts across ward and assessment unit. - Apply evidence‑based practice and current NICE guidelines. - Demonstrate professional development and reflective practice. Key Responsibilities: - Administer medicines, manage pre‑, peri‑ and post‑operative care. - Perform simple and complex dressings, wound care and patient assessment. - Plan and facilitate discharge processes. - Assist surgeons during procedures in the major treatment area. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary team, maintain accurate patient documentation, and refer appropriately to registered professionals. Required Skills: - Clinical teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration. - Excellent verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues. - Time‑management and prioritisation in a dynamic environment. - Intermediate IT proficiency (patient record systems). - Independent initiative, reflective practice and professional supervision. Required Education & Certifications: - NMC registered Nursing Associate Foundation Degree (or equivalent). - Completion of End‑Point Assessment for apprenticeship route where applicable. - GCSE (or equivalent) Level 2 in Maths and English (Grades A‑C) or IELTS 7.0 if English is a second language. - Ongoing evidence of continuing professional development.
