Job Description
**Job Title** Software Developer (COBOL) **Role Summary** Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, SQL, and JCL. Extend and optimize existing software in a heterogeneous banking environment (DB2, IMS/CICS, TWS/OPC). Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver performance‑enhanced solutions. **Expectations** - Deliver high‑quality code that meets functional and performance standards. - Participate in all phases of development and project lifecycle. - Communicate effectively with users, analysts, and peers. **Key Responsibilities** - Analyze requirements and existing systems to identify enhancement opportunities. - Write, review, and debug COBOL code, SQL scripts, and JCL batch/job specifications. - Design and implement database models and SQL queries in DB2. - Tune SQL and database performance; conduct performance analysis and apply optimizations. - Set up and maintain automated batch processes using TWS, OPC, or similar tools. - Contribute to IT project management activities: risk analysis, requirement management, and client communication. - Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation. **Required Skills** - Strong programming skills in COBOL, SQL, and JCL. - Experience with IBM mainframe technologies (DB2, IMS/CICS). - Proficient in database modeling and performance tuning. - Familiarity with batch processing frameworks (TWS/OPC). - Knowledge of IT project management practices and business communication. - Analytical, problem‑solving, and solution‑oriented mindset. - Good English communication; German or French language skills are an advantage. **Required Education & Certifications** - Completed studies in applied/computer science or equivalent IT training. - (Optional) Relevant certifications in COBOL, mainframe technologies, or database administration are a plus.
