Job Title: Data Architect
Role Summary:
Senior Data Architect with 20+ years of experience leading enterprise‑scale data platform design for consulting and public sector engagements. Drives the architecture, delivery, and governance of cloud‑based lakehouse, distributed analytics, and event‑driven systems, ensuring security, scalability, resilience, and compliance (e.g., GDPR). Provides technical leadership, mentorship, and stakeholder engagement to translate data strategy into business value, while supporting AI/ML capabilities across the data stack.
Expactations:
- Exhibit deep architectural expertise across cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Deliver data governance, master data management, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Mentor and develop architects and engineering teams.
- Translate complex data solution concepts into clear business outcomes for senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead architecture and design of enterprise data platforms for large transformation programmes.
- Define modern lakehouse, distributed analytics, and event‑driven system architectures.
- Oversee data engineering environments: ETL/ELT pipelines, orchestration, DataOps practices.
- Ensure platforms meet security, scalability, resilience, and governance standards.
- Facilitate architecture workshops and governance forums aligning business strategy with technology delivery.
- Implement data governance, MDM, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR).
- Mentor architects and engineering teams, contribute to best‑practice frameworks.
Required Skills:
- 20+ years’ experience in data architecture or enterprise data platforms.
- Proven consulting experience, preferably with UK public sector clients.
- Design and delivery of large‑scale cloud‑based data and analytics platforms.
- Cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, or GCP (equivalent).
- Data lakes, warehouses, lakehouse architectures.
- Streaming, event‑driven, and API‑led integration patterns.
- Data modelling, SQL, and modern data engineering tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Spark).
- Architecture for AI/ML model training, deployment, monitoring, and integration.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Leadership and mentoring capabilities.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 20+ years of professional experience in data architecture.
- Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate, AWS Certified Big Data – Specialty, GCP Professional Data Engineer) strongly preferred.
