Job Description
**Job Title:** Business Development Manager – Fire Systems (Projects & Installations) **Role Summary:** Senior, relationship‑focused sales professional responsible for generating and converting new business for fire detection, life‑safety, and security projects (up to £500k) across commercial, HMO, and residential sectors. Drives revenue by influencing specifications early, securing preferred contractor status, and converting installations into ongoing maintenance contracts. **Expectations:** - Deliver new‑business revenue and meet or exceed sales targets (OTE ≈ £90k). - Build and maintain senior‑level relationships with owners, FM teams, contractors, and consultants. - Manage full sales cycle from lead generation through proposal, contract award, hand‑over, and post‑sale support. - Protect project margins through effective pricing and negotiation. - Identify and pursue cross‑sell/up‑sell opportunities within the broader service portfolio. **Key Responsibilities:** - Generate leads via agents, contractors, building owners, and internal networks. - Sell fire alarm systems (BS5839), emergency lighting, and security installations. - Prepare, present, and negotiate proposals; close projects and oversee handover to delivery teams. - Convert completed installations into maintenance/service contracts. - Lead long‑cycle, consultative sales engagements and manage complex stakeholder environments. - Drive revenue growth across new installations, upgrades, and compliance work. - Ensure compliance with project specifications and tender requirements. **Required Skills:** - Proven B2B consultative sales experience in fire‑system, life‑safety, or security sectors. - Strong relationship‑building and stakeholder‑management abilities at senior levels. - Knowledge of fire alarm standards (BS5839) and related regulations. - Excellent proposal writing, negotiation, and pricing‑strategy skills. - Ability to manage long sales cycles and multiple concurrent opportunities. - Strong analytical, presentation, and communication skills. - Proficiency with CRM and sales pipeline tools. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience). - Relevant fire‑safety or project‑management certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, PMP, or industry‑specific qualifications) preferred but not mandatory.
