**Job Title**: English Language Teacher (Part‑time, Freelance) **Role Summary** Deliver one‑to‑one English instruction to an intermediate student (age ≤ 17) whose native language is Mandarin Chinese, in a private setting. Teach 15 two‑hour lessons (32 total hours) on a weekly basis (Mon‑Fri 9 AM‑1 PM) through March 22; thereafter, a single weekend session per week (Sat or Sun 9 AM‑1 PM). **Expectations** - Native or near‑native English speaker or holder of a recognized teaching qualification. - Demonstrated experience in teaching, translating, or interpreting. - Valid Canadian work permit/visa (no sponsorship offered). - Reside within 30 km of Oakville, Ontario. - Flexible availability to accommodate schedule changes if needed. **Key Responsibilities** - Plan, design, and deliver tailored lesson plans aligned with the student’s intermediate proficiency and goals. - Conduct engaging, interactive, two‑hour sessions, incorporating speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. - Assess student progress, provide timely feedback, and adjust instruction as required. - Maintain accurate lesson records and progress reports. **Required Skills** - Excellent verbal and written communication in English. - Ability to create and adapt instructional materials for a non‑English‑speaking learner. - Strong classroom management and motivational techniques. - Cultural sensitivity and awareness of Mandarin‑speaking student needs. **Required Education & Certifications** - Native English speaker or at least fluency equivalent. - TESOL/TEFL/TESL, CELTA, or relevant language teaching certification. - Valid Canadian work permit or citizen status.
