Job Description
**Job Title:** Test Development Engineer **Role Summary:** Design, develop, and execute laboratory and field tests for multi‑spectral thermal camouflage technologies, translate user feedback into test protocols, and support product validation and commercialization within a fast‑paced startup environment. **Expectations:** - Canadian citizenship (required for defense projects) - Ability to obtain/maintain CISD and DDTC secret‑level security clearances (clearance not mandatory at hire) - Legally authorized to work in Canada and pass background checks - Flexibility to wear multiple hats, navigate ambiguity, and meet shifting priorities - Strong collaboration across engineering, materials, manufacturing, and leadership teams **Key Responsibilities:** - Plan and conduct laboratory and field performance tests of thermal camouflage coatings - Coordinate external field trials with defense stakeholders and military end users - Convert operational feedback into simulation and test specifications - Maintain detailed test data, documentation, and reports for regulatory, grant, and commercial use - Work with materials and formulation teams to guide product iterations and validate results - Manage project timelines, stakeholder communication, and deliverables end‑to‑end **Required Skills:** - Test development and execution in defense, materials science, or textile contexts (3+ years) - Knowledge of thermal imaging, infrared testing, and field test methodologies - Strong project coordination and cross‑functional communication abilities - Proactive problem‑solving, grit, and ability to work independently on complex challenges - Ability to adapt quickly in early‑stage technical programs and influence processes and culture **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics, or related technical discipline - Eligibility for CISD and DDTC secret‑level security clearances (clearance acquisition supported) - No specific professional certifications required.
