**Job Title:** Software Engineer (Junior)
**Role Summary:**
Assist in developing and maintaining the AI Control Layer for U.S. government operations. Work on core components (ORCUS, NEXUS, HALO) that handle large‑scale, adversarial data ingestion, semantic vectorization, and graph‑based reasoning. Deliver production‑ready code under tight latency, reliability, and security constraints.
**Expectations:**
* Operate effectively with unclear specifications and high‑stakes mission requirements.
* Prioritize functional, audit‑ready code over polished prototypes.
* Demonstrate commitment to rapid iteration while respecting security, accreditation, and operational boundaries.
* Achieve operational impact measured by accuracy, latency, and efficiency.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Design, implement, test, and deploy data‑movement, vectorization, and reasoning modules.
* Collaborate with data scientists, system engineers, and field operators to integrate AI workflows.
* Write comprehensive unit, integration, and performance tests ensuring robust, low‑latency behavior.
* Participate in continuous integration, containerization, and automated deployment pipelines.
* Troubleshoot production incidents, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions under time constraints.
* Contribute to documentation of design decisions, usage guides, and security controls.
**Required Skills:**
* Proficiency in Python (and optionally C/C++) for AI and systems development.
* Experience with machine‑learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar).
* Understanding of data‑pipeline concepts (ETL, streaming, batch processing).
* Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases and graph‑databases.
* Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
* Basic secure‑coding practices and awareness of national‑security standards (FIPS, NIST).
* Ability to write clear, maintainable code and automated tests.
* Strong problem‑solving ability and resilience in ambiguous environments.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
* U.S. citizenship.
* Eligibility for, or active, Secret, Top Secret, or Top Secret/SCI clearance (sponsorship may be available).
