Job Description

**Job Title** Intern – SEG Prototyping **Role Summary** Part‑time internship within the Software Engineering Group (SEG) focused on rapid prototyping and full‑stack development for federal projects. Work alongside engineers and designers to build proof‑of‑concept applications, automation tools, and support the delivery cycle. **Expectations** - Current student (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. - Able to commit part‑time hours (e.g., 10–20 hrs/week). - Strong collaborative and communication skills. - Enthusiastic about agile working, user‑centered design, and civic tech. **Key Responsibilities** - Build and refine software prototypes aligned with federal client requirements. - Develop full‑stack web applications or automation tools in Python, JavaScript, or Java. - Support UI/UX designers with wireframes and translating research into functional components. - Participate in Agile ceremonies: stand‑ups, sprint planning, demos. - Document prototypes, codebases, test plans; maintain knowledge transfer. - Research and recommend frameworks, APIs, libraries to improve prototyping efficiency. - Write unit tests, conduct peer reviews, manage version control using Git. **Required Skills** - Proficiency in at least one: Python, JavaScript, Java, or C#. - Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows. - Basic knowledge of full‑stack development (frontend + backend). - Understanding of UI/UX principles and wireframing basics. - Experience with Agile methodology (stand‑ups, sprints). **Preferred Skills** (not mandatory) - Experience with React, Angular, Django, or Node.js. - Exposure to REST APIs, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), or containerization (Docker). - Prior internship or project experience in software development or rapid prototyping. **Required Education & Certifications** - Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or an equivalent field. - No specific certifications required; competency demonstrated through coursework, projects, or prior internship.
