Job Description
Job Title: VP of AI, Enterprise Optimization & Automation Role Summary: Lead a newly established internal function that modernizes company operations through AI‑driven automation. Build and manage a forward‑deployed engineering and technical specialist team, set strategy, execute rapid prototyping, deploy production solutions, and ensure sustainable impacts across finance, HR, data, sales, and other business functions. Expectations: - Establish and grow a high‑performing technical team (3‑5 + members). - Own portfolio management, prioritizing high‑impact automation projects and balancing quick wins with long‑term transformation. - Drive measurable outcomes: reduced cycle times, eliminated manual steps, improved accuracy, freed capacity. - Design and enforce lightweight governance for AI tool use, data handling, and access controls. - Report progress, impact metrics, and roadmap to senior leadership on an ongoing basis. Key Responsibilities: - Build and grow a forward‑deployed team of engineers and technical specialists. - Identify, prioritize, and sequence automation opportunities across internal functions through direct engagement with business leaders. - Define the technical strategy for internal automation, focusing on AI/LLM solutions. - Manage an engagement model: embed team in business units, build rapid prototypes, validate with users, and deploy production solutions. - Maintain a portfolio of active engagements, balancing fast‑track wins with longer‑horizon projects. - Set handoff and sustainability standards to ensure post‑deployment operational readiness. - Deliver measurable results and build credibility with stakeholders. - Establish and maintain governance for AI‑powered internal tools. - Report portfolio status, impact metrics, and roadmap to senior leadership. Required Skills: - 12+ years of engineering, technical operations, or technology consulting experience. - Minimum 5 years in a leadership role directing technical teams. - Proven track record of deploying AI/ML or LLM‑powered solutions that automated or materially improved real business processes. - Experience running an embedded or forward‑deployed team/model within an organization. - Strong technical foundation; able to evaluate architectural decisions. - Ability to build trust and translate business problems into technical solutions. - Skilled in prioritizing and sequencing portfolios with varying risk and payoff. - Comfortable exercising significant autonomy in setting roadmap and strategy. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. - Relevant certifications in AI/ML, project management, or enterprise architecture are a plus.
