**Job title**
Senior UX/UI Designer – Hybrid (Contract)
**Role Summary**
Lead end‑to‑end user experience and interface design for digital products, combining research, prototyping, visual design, and front‑end development. Work in a modular, iterative process while ensuring accessibility, performance, and brand consistency across web and mobile platforms.
**Expectations**
- Deliver high‑quality UX/UI solutions from concept to final implementation.
- Act as a design subject matter expert for usability, accessibility, SEO, and data protection.
- Publish and maintain reusable design assets (style guides, component libraries, brand books).
- Optimize code for maintainability, scalability, and performance.
- Manage all phases of user research, testing, and evaluation to inform design decisions.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Conduct usability testing and UX analysis; create recommendations and test plans.
- Design low‑ and high‑fidelity wireframes, mock‑ups, storyboards, and interactive prototypes.
- Build visual component libraries, style guides, and brand assets.
- Define typography, imagery, information architecture, interaction flows, and navigation structures.
- Produce illustrations, infographics, and data visualisations.
- Translate mock‑ups into semantic HTML/CSS; improve code quality and performance.
- Document codebase and design specifications for partner teams.
- Work 1–2 days onsite in Brussels; otherwise remote contractor.
- Translate user interview insights into informed design solutions, adhering to data protection and security standards.
**Required Skills**
- • 9+ years in IT with senior UX/UI design experience.
- • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, XHTML, and W3C standards.
- • Expertise in Figma; knowledge of Balsamiq, InVision, UXPin, Framer.js, or similar.
- • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator) and design‑system tools.
- • Familiarity with eUI frameworks (optional).
- • Familiarity with collaborative tools (e.g., Atlassian Confluence).
- • Knowledge of web/mobile accessibility, SEO best practices, and data‑centric design.
- • Ability to conduct and analyse usability tests (remote, A/B, eye‑tracking, hallway, post‑release).
- • Familiarity with coding practices, performance optimisation, and responsive design.
- • Excellent communication in English; ability to articulate design rationale and findings.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Design, Computer Science, Human‑Computer Interaction, or related field.
- No additional certifications required, but knowledge of UI design and front‑end development courses is advantageous.
