**Job Title:** Chief Data Officer
**Role Summary:** Executive leader responsible for defining and executing an enterprise‑wide data strategy that aligns with business and technology objectives, ensuring data governance, ethics, and scalability while driving data‑driven innovation across the organization.
**Expectations:**
- Proven senior‑level data leadership in complex, technology‑driven environments.
- Demonstrated ability to translate strategic goals into actionable data solutions and secure cross‑functional sponsorship.
- Deep expertise in data governance, architecture, and engineering, with a focus on cloud‑native, real‑time, AI/ML‑ready platforms.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Own and advance the company’s data strategy, ensuring alignment with business and IT roadmaps.
- Lead data governance initiatives covering compliance, security, and ethical use of data.
- Operate a virtual Data Centre of Excellence, fostering collaboration among data, engineering, and business units.
- Champion modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Collibra, Denodo) and guide their scalable implementation.
- Collaborate with engineering and architecture teams to design and maintain robust, scalable data architectures.
- Serve as the primary liaison for internal stakeholders, translating business needs into data‑centric solutions.
- Build and maintain documentation, process governance, and performance metrics to audit data initiatives.
- Cultivate organizational buy‑in and lead change management for data strategy adoption.
**Required Skills:**
- Expertise in data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of data architecture, lakehouse, data warehousing, and real‑time streaming pipelines.
- Hands‑on experience with Databricks, Collibra, Denodo, or equivalent modern data platforms.
- Leadership, stakeholder management, and change‑management capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, fluent in English; Dutch or French is a plus.
- Ability to work proactively in a fast‑moving, dynamic environment.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field (equivalent professional experience accepted).
- Preferred: professional certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), or cloud‑platform certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Azure Data Engineer Associate).
