Job Description

**Job Title** Independent Non‑Executive Director – Technology / Transformation **Role Summary** Provide board‑level strategic oversight, assurance and constructive challenge on technology, data and organisational transformation initiatives for an NHS‑affiliated social enterprise. Deliver independent judgement on governance, cyber risk, information governance and major change programmes, supporting executive leadership and ensuring alignment with organisational strategy. **Expactations** - 15 hours/month (≈2 days) with a 3‑year term. - Independent, evidence‑based counsel on technology and transformation risks. - Balanced support for senior leaders; act as a trusted critical friend. - Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. **Key Responsibilities** - Shape organisational strategy from a technology/transformation perspective. - Challenge governance, prioritisation and leadership accountability. - Review and assure resilience, security and performance of digital, data and technology landscape. - Oversee cyber risk, information governance, data protection and significant technology‑enabled risks. - Evaluate governance and deliverability of major transformation and change activities. - Provide balanced support to Executive Directors and senior leaders. - Engage beyond boardroom: site visits, assurance activities, chair or contribute to relevant sub‑committees (digital, transformation, performance, audit or risk). **Required Skills** - Senior, strategic experience in technology, digital, data or organisational transformation within a complex or regulated environment. - Ability to distil complex technical information into clear assurance and insight. - Strong analytical judgement, particularly in technology risk, digital resilience, information governance or transformation delivery. - Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills. - Collaborative style, personal integrity, confidence with sensitive issues. - Board or non‑executive director experience valued; first‑time directors with senior executive background welcomed. **Required Education & Certifications** - Relevant tertiary qualification in technology, information systems, digital transformation, business or related field. - Professional certifications desirable: CISSP/ISO 27001 Lead Implementer, PMI PMP, Prince2 Practitioner, or equivalent.
