Job Description
**Job Title** Firewall Coordination Specialist **Role Summary** Coordinate, administer, and assess firewall rules and changes for the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA). Ensure timely processing of ITSM tickets, compliance with change management, and accurate reporting of firewall status to stakeholders during exercises and operations. Serve as a subject‑matter expert on firewall configurations within a multi‑nation NATO environment, supporting both peacetime operations and exercise readiness. **Expectations** - Minimum of 6 years progressive experience in configuration and firewall rule management (degree not mandatory if experience qualifies). - Demonstrated expertise in ITIL v3/v4 service lifecycle processes and change/configuration management. - Proven ability to produce comprehensive process documentation and reporting artefacts. **Key Responsibilities** - Create and maintain the “VeVA MN Firewall Coordination Process” description document. - Generate monthly Firewall Changes Reports and track ticket volumes. - Respond to, assess, and resolve firewall‑related ITSM tickets using BMC Remedy or equivalent. - Conduct change‑request assessments for new firewall rules and approve approvals. - Report status of managed firewall rules to the Standard Management Working Group (SMWG) and relevant leadership. - Prepare and deliver briefings on firewall processes for internal and client audiences. - Act as SME in exercise meetings, providing analysis and support for exercises: STCO26B‑MPC/TCC, STCO26B‑FCC, STCO26A‑E‑Block (Fed. Joining/V&V), and STCO26B‑E‑Block (Fed. Joining/V&V). - Engage directly with exercise participants and stakeholders to ensure readiness and compliance. **Required Skills** - Firewall rules configuration and management (including change control). - Configuration Management & IT Service Management (ITIL v3/v4). - Familiarity with networking fundamentals: routing, switching, IP addressing. - Experience with BMC Remedy ITSM Suite or similar platform. - Proficiency with database systems (MSSQL, Oracle). - Knowledge of cloud‑based CIS infrastructure in large, distributed organizations. - Ability to develop and deliver technical briefings and reports. - Understanding of NATO mission structures, exercise frameworks, and associated security requirements. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree optional; 6+ years of relevant experience must be demonstrated. - ITIL v3 or v4 (preferably both) certification preferred. - Proven experience with firewall products and exposure to NATO or equivalent defense environments.
