Job Description
**Job Title:** PHP/Delphi Software Engineer **Role Summary:** Support the migration of a legacy PHP/Delphi application from Microsoft SQL Server to PostgreSQL and from Windows to Linux. Refactor existing Delphi components, and rewrite critical parts in a modern language (C#/.NET) when needed, while maintaining current PHP functionality. **Expactations:** - Work remotely with occasional on‑site visits. - Deliver clean, maintainable code on schedule. - Communicate progress and issues promptly. - Adhere to IR35 compliance and project standards. **Key Responsibilities:** - Review the current Delphi/PHP codebase and document dependencies. - Implement database schema changes and data migration to PostgreSQL. - Refactor Delphi logic, using Lazarus where applicable. - Rewrite selected components in C# or .NET if performance/maintainability gains are required. - Develop and maintain WebSocket and REST API endpoints in Delphi. - Containerize the application with Docker and configure deployments on AWS. - Create unit and integration tests, and update technical documentation. - Collaborate with QA, DevOps, and product teams to ensure seamless delivery. **Required Skills:** - Expert level in Delphi (Object Pascal) and experience with Lazarus IDE. - Strong PHP development skills. - Proven experience migrating from MSSQL to PostgreSQL. - Knowledge of WebSocket and REST API development in Delphi. - Familiarity with AWS services and Docker containerization. - Proficiency with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and coding best practices. - Ability to quickly learn C#/.NET and apply it in component rewrites. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience. - (Preferred) Certification in AWS, Docker, or .NET development.
