**Job title**
Nuclear Security Manager
**Role Summary**
Lead day‑to‑day nuclear security operations at RNAD Coulport, ensuring the protection, integrity, and safe handling of the Trident Weapon System. Liaise with MOD, contractor police, service personnel, and security pillars to maintain a secure, compliant, and resilient environment. Act as subject‑matter expert on weapon security, oversee security projects, investigations, and system maintenance, and support policy development and audits.
**Expectations**
- Manage nuclear security on behalf of the NSA Assistant Head and Deputy Nuclear Security Authority (Coulport).
- Deliver high‑standard security operations in line with nuclear safety and security regulations.
- Foster a positive security culture through policy integration, training, and proactive risk mitigation.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Oversee daily nuclear security functions and coordinate with CSyO pillars, MOD, MDP, and service members.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate security vulnerabilities related to nuclear weapons and their movements.
- Serve as SME on weapon security procedures and maintain safe, secure operational standards.
- Direct security projects, ensuring compliance with the Office of Nuclear Regulation and Defence Nuclear Security Regulator.
- Support policy, orders, and instructions to embed security measures across the base.
- Investigate physical security breaches and MDP/MGS occurrence reports; recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor and maintain security systems (CCTV, PI DS, IDS); resolve faults and mitigate risks.
- Act as Atomic Liaison Officer for NBCC, safeguarding ATOMIC information confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
- Participate in NW Security workshops, exercise programmes, and ensure alignment with safety protocols.
- Assist with nuclear safety and security audits and visits.
- Conduct regular spot checks of physical security equipment, especially in high‑risk areas such as DNA storage facilities and armouries.
**Required Skills**
- In‑depth knowledge of nuclear security and weapons handling.
- Risk assessment, incident investigation, and project management expertise.
- Strong liaison and communication abilities with MOD, contractor police, and military personnel.
- Familiarity with MOD security regulations and defence security frameworks.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting CCTV, PI DS, and IDS systems.
- Ability to enforce need‑to‑know principles and maintain a security‑centric culture.
- Analytical, problem‑solving, and organisational skills; leadership in a high‑security environment.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Defence Studies, Nuclear Engineering, or related field.
- Relevant professional security certifications (e.g., Certified Protection Professional, GSS, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience in a defence or nuclear security role (minimum 3–5 years).
