Job Description
Job Title: Compliance Director – Banking (Fixed‑Term) Role Summary Lead the compliance advisory function for Personal Savings, Business Banking, and Commercial Lending, shaping risk‑based frameworks and embedding compliance across the business. Expectations Deliver pragmatic, regulatory‑aligned advice that supports commercial objectives; influence senior strategy and regulatory engagement; drive innovation using Generative AI; manage a high‑performing compliance team on a 6‑month contract. Key Responsibilities • Head a compliance advisory team, setting objectives and ensuring deliverables. • Develop and maintain compliance frameworks aligned with UK regulations (SYSC, SMCR, Consumer Duty) and business goals. • Translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance for senior leaders and front‑line staff. • Embed compliance culture across all operational areas. • Lead the adoption of Generative AI tools to improve efficiency and decision‑making. • Represent compliance in executive meetings, influencing strategy and regulatory interactions. • Manage performance, development, and staffing of the compliance advisory team. Required Skills • Deep knowledge of UK banking regulations (SYSC, SMCR, Consumer Duty). • Experience managing compliance teams and delivering regulatory advice. • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and risk assessment abilities. • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills. • Ability to translate complex rules into clear, actionable recommendations. • Familiarity with AI/automation tools for compliance. • Leadership and change‑management experience. Required Education & Certifications • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, or related field. • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CII, CII Level 3/4, or equivalent). • Proven UK banking compliance experience; US regulatory exposure is advantageous.
