**Job title:** Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning Engineer
**Role Summary:** Design, develop, and deploy AI‑driven predictive models for healthcare and accessibility. Convert real‑world clinical data (EHRs, wearables, sensors) into reliable, explainable solutions that meet regulatory standards and deliver measurable patient outcomes.
**Expectations:**
- Translate research concepts into production‑ready code within regulated environments.
- Demonstrate clinical relevance, explainability, and compliance with GDPR, MDR, HIPAA, and EHDS.
- Collaborate with clinicians, researchers, and engineering teams to deliver clear technical documentation and structured deliverables.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Build and optimise machine‑learning models for disease prediction, early diagnosis, and personalised care.
- Process structured and unstructured healthcare data; apply feature engineering, handle missing values, and characterise outliers.
- Develop time‑series models on physiological signals (ECG, PPG) and validate against clinical metrics.
- Implement explainable AI methods to ensure transparency in clinical settings.
- Create multimodal AI solutions for accessibility (text, image, audio).
- Ensure compliance with HL7, FHIR, and all relevant healthcare regulations.
- Produce technical documentation, visualisations, and deliverables for EU‑funded projects.
- Work independently while coordinating cross‑functional teams and external partners.
**Required Skills:**
- Python (data analysis, hypothesis testing, machine learning).
- Supervised/unsupervised learning, model evaluation (AUC‑ROC, precision, recall, cross‑validation).
- Time‑series analysis of physiological signals (ECG, PPG).
- Data visualisation with Matplotlib or Seaborn.
- Experience with real‑world healthcare datasets (EHR, wearables, IoT).
- Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, GDPR, MDR, HIPAA, EHDS.
- Strong documentation, communication, and independent problem‑solving.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- PhD in biomedical engineering, health data science, machine learning, or equivalent with ≥2 years experience;
- or MSc in a related field with ≥5 years experience.
