**Job Title:** Chief Brand & Marketing Officer
**Role Summary:**
Strategic leader responsible for building a differentiated brand and driving performance‑focused marketing for a fast‑growing CPG startup. Owns brand positioning, consumer insight, and integrated retail‑digital activation to increase visibility, conversion, and DTC growth while ensuring budget efficiency and ROI.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver a memorable, challenger‑brand narrative that resonates across all consumer touchpoints.
- Align marketing strategy with sales, operations, finance, and innovation for rapid decision‑making.
- Lead and develop an in‑house marketing team and manage agency, media, and retail partners.
- Communicate marketing performance and strategy to the board, investors, and public forums.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Define and evolve brand positioning and creative platform; ensure consistency across packaging, communications, digital, retail, and new product development.
- Champion consumer insight; embed data‑driven decision making into strategy and execution.
- Own marketing budget, set KPIs, and build dashboards to monitor spend efficiency, CAC, LTV, ROI, and incrementality.
- Design and execute content‑driven social, paid, owned, and earned media plans; grow DTC sales through test‑and‑learn optimization.
- Manage CRM, community, and loyalty programs to convert audience engagement into advocacy and repeat purchase.
- Lead creative, PR, digital, and media agencies; set performance standards and ensure high‑quality output.
- Partner with retailers and key accounts on joint business planning and trade marketing initiatives.
- Build, mentor, and inspire a high‑performing internal team; foster a culture of accountability and rapid execution.
**Required Skills:**
- Proven track record in brand‑first communications and successful challenger‑brand campaigns (portfolio required).
- Strong analytical aptitude: proficient with dashboards, CAC/LTV, media mix modeling, ROI analysis, and performance testing.
- Experience scaling marketing functions in start‑up or scale‑up environments; ability to blend strategy with hands‑on execution.
- Excellent leadership and people‑development capabilities; experience managing internal teams and external agency partners.
- Effective stakeholder management across sales, operations, finance, innovation, and board-level audiences.
- Ability to act as a player‑coach: shift between strategic oversight and tactical activities (e.g., customer interactions, sampling events).
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or related field (required).
- MBA or advanced degree preferred but not mandatory.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Digital Marketing, Brand Management) are a plus.
