Lead Product Designer (Design System)
**Role Summary**
Oversee the strategic direction, growth, and adoption of a large‑scale design system. Lead a small cross‑functional design team to deliver high‑impact, evidence‑based user experiences across web and native platforms while ensuring brand consistency, accessibility, and alignment with product strategy.
**Expectations**
- Manage a team of 2–4 product designers, fostering high performance and professional growth.
- Own the design system lifecycle: strategy, architecture, governance, tokenization, documentation, and AI‑driven efficiency improvements.
- Partner with engineering, product, research, and analytics to deliver usable, performant components that scale across the business.
- Champion inclusive design and enforce WCAG 2.2 standards across all assets.
- Define CX KPIs and link design system adoption to measurable business outcomes.
- Influence strategy and embed design thinking across the organisation.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead Agile teams in creating intuitive, web‑responsive and native experiences through the design system.
- Set and maintain system governance, token structure, and documentation standards.
- Drive design–engineering parity, ensuring components are implemented accurately and efficiently.
- Integrate AI tools and Design Ops practices to maximise productivity and quality.
- Conduct user research, prototype conditionally, analyze metrics (UserTesting, Adobe Analytics) and translate insights into design decisions.
- Advocate for WCAG 2.2 inclusion, ensuring all patterns, motions, and components meet accessibility criteria.
- Measure and report on CX KPIs, linking design system adoption to business performance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align the system’s evolution with product strategy and organisational goals.
**Required Skills**
- Proven expertise in designing and scaling component libraries, tokenization, and conditional prototyping for responsive web and native apps.
- Deep knowledge of accessibility (WCAG 2.2), inclusive design, and user experience research methods.
- Strong analytical skills: use analytics and usability testing data to inform design decisions.
- Experience partnering with developers on component implementation, governance pipelines, and code alignment.
- Effective storytelling, stakeholder influence, and resilience in fast‑moving, evolving environments.
- Familiarity with AI tools, Design Ops, and Agile design practices.
- Proficiency in industry design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, Miro).
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Product Design, Interaction Design, Human‑Computer Interaction, Design Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, *or* equivalent professional experience.
- Design or product certifications beneficial but not mandatory.
