Job Description
**Job Title** DevOps Technical Consultant – AWS **Role Summary** Lead the design, deployment, operation, and monitoring of secure backend systems, data pipelines, and progressive web applications using Agile practices. Manage the full project lifecycle, mentor team members, and act as the primary technical liaison with customers in government and defence sectors. **Expectations** - Deliver high‑quality, secure solutions on time and within scope. - Maintain continuous improvement of technology, processes, and team skills. - Drive adoption of emerging cloud and DevOps trends. - Secure and sustain UK security clearance (British Citizen, permanent UK residency ≥5 years). **Key Responsibilities** 1. Lead feature teams in secure development, testing, release, and operation of software products. 2. Design and run automated CI/CD pipelines and shared platform services for deployment, operation, and monitoring. 3. Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for public, private, and hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, on‑prem). 4. Deploy and operate containerised services, ensuring scalability and resilience. 5. Provide consulting to customers on technology choices, solutions design, and problem‑solving. 6. Manage client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and project success. 7. Mentor junior engineers, facilitate knowledge sharing, and support career development. 8. Apply Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) to deliver value, facilitate meetings, and maintain project visibility. **Required Skills** - Mastery of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and deployment patterns. - Proficient in DevOps practices: CI/CD, IaC, containerisation, virtualization, automated testing. - Strong understanding of security principles and best practices for cloud infrastructure. - Experience with Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban). - Effective communication and stakeholder management. - Ability to translate business goals into technical solutions. - Familiarity with testing frameworks and tools. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent. - Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer, or equivalent) are highly desirable. - Eligibility for UK security clearance (British Citizen with ≥5 years permanent UK residency).
