Job Description
**Job Title** 12 Month Industrial Placement – Engineering (2026‑27) **Role Summary** Seasoned engineering placement delivering hands‑on project experience within Design Engineering or Manufacturing Process Engineering. Supports prototype and production development of hydraulic and electro‑hydraulic control valves, collaborating with senior engineers, suppliers, and customers throughout the product life cycle. **Expectations** - Undergraduate student pursuing an Engineering degree (mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or related) in year 2 or 3. - Ability to begin placement in September 2026 for 12 months. - Willingness to engage in cross‑functional teamwork, problem solving, and continuous improvement initiatives. **Key Responsibilities** - Assist in the conceptualisation, design, and simulation of hydraulic/electro‑hydraulic components. - Contribute to process engineering activities, including tooling design, manufacturing optimisation, and quality improvement. - Engage with suppliers to evaluate component performance, conduct trials, and negotiate specifications. - Work closely with manufacturing units to ensure design intent is preserved during production. - Support programme implementation, schedule coordination, and status reporting. - Document designs, test results, and lessons learned following standard engineering protocols. **Required Skills** - Proficiency in CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and basic simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, MATLAB). - Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving ability. - Effective written and verbal communication skills. - Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation. - Ability to collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams and external partners. - Willingness to adapt to new technologies and continuous learning. **Required Education & Certifications** - Currently enrolled in an accredited engineering degree programme (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or equivalent). - Minimum of two years completed or in progress of the degree. - No specific certifications required; relevant coursework in fluid‑power systems, design engineering, or manufacturing is advantageous.
