Operational Technology Architect
**Role Summary**
Defines, designs, and governs industrial and operational technology systems to ensure secure, resilient, interoperable architectures aligned with business and regulatory requirements. Provides strategic direction and technical leadership for IT/OT convergence, industrial IoT, and cloud integration.
**Expectations**
7+ years’ experience in OT, industrial engineering, or architecture roles. Must be or have previously held high-level security clearance (DV). Security clearance mandatory.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Define/maintain OT architecture standards, reference designs, and solution roadmaps.
- Architect ICS, SCADA, DCS, PLC, and HMI systems for control networks.
- Design secure, resilient architectures meeting safety, availability, and operational continuity.
- Integrate OT with IT/cloud platforms and define industrial protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC UA).
- Implement cybersecurity frameworks (security-by-design, Purdue Model/IEC 62443).
- Conduct risk assessments, threat modeling, threat/architecture reviews.
- Develop high-availability/fault-tolerance designs and disaster recovery plans.
- Align systems with functional safety, regulatory compliance, and incident response.
- Collaborate with engineering, IT, cybersecurity teams, and vendors.
- Review designs/solutions for architectural compliance and produce documentation.
**Required Skills**
- Expertise in industrial control systems (ICS), SCADA, DCS, and OT networking.
- Proficient in OT cybersecurity principles, standards, and threat mitigation.
- Strong knowledge of industrial protocols, IT/OT integration, and data flows.
- Experience with IIoT, edge computing, and cloud-native system design.
- Strategic and hands-on architectural leadership in complex OT environments.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field.
- Certifications in OT architecture, cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP), or industrial systems (preferred).
