**Job Title**
Senior Embedded Products and Software Reliability Engineer
**Role Summary**
Lead reliability engineering for grid automation products—including protection relays, control devices, digital substations, and advanced software platforms—through design, testing, field analysis, and continuous improvement. Drive resilience, regulatory compliance, and uptime for utility customers.
**Expectations**
- 7+ years of reliability, systems, or product engineering in the energy/utility sector.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Systems, or related engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Deep knowledge of T&D protection/control systems, IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, IEEE C37.118.
- Experience with reliability methodology (FMEA, FMECA, RCA), statistical tools, and performance KPIs (MTBF, FIT, availability).
- Proficient in data analytics (Python, R, Minitab, Power BI) and reliability software (ReliaSoft, Model-based design, HIL).
- Strong communication, cross‑functional collaboration, and ability to travel for customer engagements.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Model and statistically analyze energy management & protection/control products to predict field performance.
- Design and execute hardware‑in‑the‑loop, environmental, and stress test plans for hardware and embedded software.
- Lead FMEA/FMECA and RCA for hardware/software failures; recommend corrective actions.
- Embed Design for Reliability (DfR) from concept through deployment across product teams.
- Analyze field data from relays, RTUs, and control systems; identify systemic issues and suggest preventive measures.
- Partner with utilities to support asset performance, modernization, and standards (IEC 61850, virtualization).
- Develop, track, and report reliability KPIs (MTBF, FIT, availability) and integrate into QA programs.
- Promote predictive/condition‑based maintenance using remote diagnostics, SCADA, and sensor data.
- Align reliability priorities with Innovation Office, applications teams, and standards leadership.
- Keep abreast of NERC, IEEE, IEC compliance and cybersecurity risk for critical infrastructure.
- Provide reliability coaching, training, and guidance internally and to external stakeholders.
**Required Skills**
- Reliability engineering tools (ReliaSoft, ISO 9001/55000, IEC 61025).
- Communication protocols: IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, IEEE C37.118, RTU/RTDS, PSCAD, EMTP.
- Statistical & data analysis: Python, R, Minitab, Power BI.
- Model-based design, HIL testing, and CAD for electronics.
- Root cause analysis, FMEA/FMECA, reliability KPI development.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and systems‑thinking abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 7 years experience in energy/utility reliability engineering.
- Master’s degree in Reliability or Systems Engineering (preferred).
- Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or equivalent certification (preferred).
