Job Description: **Job Title** Backend Engineer **Role Summary** Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance, resilient backend services for a leading second‑hand marketplace, with a focus on search and recommendation capabilities. **Expectations** - Minimum 4 years of experience building scalable, high‑performance systems. - Strong collaboration with cross‑functional teams (product, web, mobile). - Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of quality and continuous improvement. **Key Responsibilities** - Architect and build micro‑services primarily in Java (Spring Boot) and Go. - Develop and optimize RESTful APIs and event‑driven services on Kubernetes and Google Cloud. - Ensure system resilience, scalability, and robustness through design patterns and performance tuning. - Write clean, well‑documented, and maintainable code with automated tests. - Design data persistence solutions using PostgreSQL, BigTable, Redis, and search engines (Solr). - Build and maintain event‑driven pipelines with Kafka and Apache Beam. - Implement CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks. - Collaborate with front‑end, mobile, and product teams to deliver seamless user experiences. - Mentor and coach junior engineers; participate in code reviews and architectural discussions. **Required Skills** - Java (Spring Boot) and Go (proficient). - Micro‑services architecture and container orchestration (Kubernetes). - Cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform. - Event‑driven messaging (Kafka) and stream processing (Apache Beam). - Relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, BigTable, Redis). - Search engines (Solr or Elasticsearch). - CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps practices. - Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and mathematics. - Fluent in English (written & spoken). - Adaptive learning mindset and strong communication skills. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. - Professional certifications in cloud services or Java are a plus.
