Job title: Contract Full Stack Developer – Node.js, Terraform, AWS
Role Summary: Day‑rate contract (inside IR35) supporting a media organization’s engineering team. Requires building, deploying, and maintaining serverless Node.js services on AWS while managing infrastructure as code with Terraform. One hybrid onsite day per week.
Expectations: Deliver clean, scalable code; maintain serverless infrastructure; collaborate with cross‑functional teams in a complex engineering environment; meet delivery milestones and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and deploy serverless Node.js applications on AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, etc.).
- Write clean, maintainable code following best practices; ensure high availability and security.
- Provision, update, and destroy AWS resources via Terraform; maintain IaC repositories.
- Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, demos, and knowledge sharing.
- Troubleshoot production issues, monitor performance, and optimise resource usage.
- Coordinate with product, platform, and engineering teams to integrate services.
- Stay current with AWS serverless best practices and new services.
Required Skills:
- 3+ years of commercial Node.js development (ES6+).
- Hands‑on AWS serverless architecture experience (Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, Step Functions, etc.).
- Proficient with Terraform, modular IaC, and version control.
- Familiar with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Git workflows.
- Knowledge of AWS security, cost optimisation, and high‑availability design.
- Ability to write automated unit/integration tests.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and agile delivery mindset.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Optional: AWS Certified Developer – Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, or Terraform Associate.
