Senior Network Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Network Engineer Role Summary: Senior network architect responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing advanced communication systems to support Command, Control, and Situational Awareness capabilities. Leads network configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting across mission-critical environments. Expactations: - Complete 12‑month contract engagement. - Eligible for SC security clearance. - Deliver high‑availability designs that meet strict operational and security standards. Key Responsibilities: - Design and deploy scalable network architectures for command and situational awareness systems. - Configure routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and WAN links; implement routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS). - Perform capacity planning, performance monitoring, and proactive maintenance. - Troubleshoot complex network issues; conduct root‑cause analysis and post‑mortem reviews. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (cybersecurity, application, mission ops) to align networking solutions with overall operational goals. - Maintain detailed network documentation, diagrams, and runbooks. Required Skills: - Strong command of TCP/IP, OSI model, routing & switching principles. - Proficiency with industry‑leading vendors (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Fortinet). - Experience with network security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN solutions). - Familiarity with network performance tools (Wireshark, SolarWinds, NetFlow). - Knowledge of virtualization & cloud networking (VMware NSX, AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Network). Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. - Professional certifications: CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP/JNCIE, or equivalent. - SC security clearance (required).
