**Job Title:** Environmental Data Scientist / Hydrologist
**Role Summary**
Lead the collection, processing, and analysis of environmental and hydrological datasets for consultancy projects. Apply statistical & machine learning techniques to model water processes, assess environmental impacts, and support decision-making. Deliver actionable insights and visualizations to clients and internal stakeholders.
**Expectations**
- Apply advanced analytical methods to complex hydrological and environmental data.
- Produce high‑quality reports and presentations for technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with hydrologists, software developers, and project managers.
- Maintain data integrity, documentation, and version control of analytical workflows.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Acquire, clean, and transform hydrological and geo‑environmental datasets (e.g., rainfall, runoff, groundwater, water quality).
- Develop and validate predictive models (e.g., hydrologic, water‑quality, ecosystem‑response) and run scenario analyses.
- Implement and maintain data pipelines and automated reporting systems.
- Interpret results, identify trends and anomalies, and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Communicate model assumptions, uncertainties, and findings through visual dashboards and stakeholder briefings.
- Stay current with industry developments in data science, hydrology, and environmental regulations.
**Required Skills**
- Proficiency in data‑science tools: Python or R (scikit‑learn, pandas, NumPy, ggplot2).
- Experience with spatial GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and geospatial analysis.
- Strong knowledge of hydrologic modeling (SWAT, HEC‑Hydrologic, SWMM) or equivalent.
- Statistical analysis expertise, including time‑series, regression, and uncertainty quantification.
- Data visualization skills (Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization is a plus.
- Excellent communication and report‑writing abilities.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Hydrology, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, or related field.
- Professional certification in hydrology or GIS (e.g., IPHE Certified Hydrologist, GISP) preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in consulting or project‑based analytics environments.
