Job Description
**Job Title** Assistant Capital Accountant **Role Summary** Provide day‑to‑day support to the Capital Accounting function for the Malmaison and Hotel du Vin group. Manage CAPEX projects from initiation through to capitalization, process invoices, maintain accurate SAP entries, generate reporting, and liaise with project, maintenance and finance stakeholders to ensure compliance with group policies and timely capitalisation. **Expectations** - Deliver accurate CAPEX processing and reporting on schedule. - Communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non‑financial stakeholders. - Demonstrate a disciplined, detail‑orientated approach to documentation and audit compliance. - Work autonomously while coordinating with multiple teams and senior managers. **Key Responsibilities** - Create and maintain WBS code projects in SAP after CAPEX budget approval. - Raise Purchase Orders for club and hotel development CAPEX projects. - Process CAPEX invoices, ensuring timely vendor payment and SAP vendor set‑up. - Coordinate with Maintenance and Hotel Development teams across the country on project spend. - Engage with SAP approval teams for capital spend approvals, budget reallocation, and year‑end roll‑forward. - Submit CAPEX reports (e.g., committed spend, AUC reports) and assist with month‑end reporting. - Ensure completed projects are successfully capitalised in the books. - Book technology fees to capitalised projects and review future tech fees quarterly against the project pipeline. - Respond to internal and external queries, including audit reviews and SAP approval level reviews. - Maintain compliance with group policies and procedures. - Provide temporary or full support to the Capital Accountant as required. - Undertake ad‑hoc duties such as liaising with consultants on capital allowance projects and national statistics for CAPEX. **Required Skills** - Experience in finance or capital accounting, preferably within hospitality. - Proficiency with SAP (WBS, vendor management, approval workflow). - Strong written and verbal communication, capable of explaining finance matters to non‑technical audiences. - High attention to detail, error identification, and solution provision. - Systematic approach with a mindset for continuous improvement. - Positive, collaborative, and flexible working style with a “can‑do” attitude. - Ability to document processes precisely and maintain disciplined records. - Self‑directed ownership of work streams with minimal senior oversight. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. - Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA) preferred but not mandatory.
