Head of Engineering
**Role Summary**
Senior executive responsible for setting and executing the engineering strategy for the automotive and data business unit, driving the development of in‑vehicle payments, EV charging, and data services used by millions of vehicles worldwide. Leads a distributed back‑end engineering organization, ensuring high performance, security, and compliance while collaborating closely with product, operations, and external partners.
**Expectations**
- Deliver a secure, scalable transaction platform that supports parking, fueling, tolling and EV charging.
- Build an inclusive, high‑performing engineering culture grounded in lean, agile, and DevSecOps practices.
- Oversee architecture, reliability, performance, and incident management for mission‑critical systems.
- Ensure regulatory and industry compliance (PCI DSS, ISO 27001, TISAX, etc.).
- Grow the team and skills portfolio, manage budgets, and shape the hiring strategy.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Define and execute the engineering strategy for the transaction platform, aligning with product vision and commercial objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and scale multiple high‑performing engineering squads; foster a collaborative, inclusive culture.
- Own architecture, development and ops of secure payment and EV charging infrastructure; maintain PCI DSS‑compliant CDEs.
- Drive integrations with global third‑party providers (EV networks, fuel stations, toll operators, parking aggregators, acquirers).
- Scale the EV charging platform to meet demand of drivers, CPOs, OEMs and internal units.
- Shape the data strategy, enabling analytical use of mobility, behavioural and payment data for new products and revenue streams.
- Ensure platform reliability, performance, observability, and fault‑tolerance through robust testing and incident response.
- Partner with Security, Compliance and Infrastructure to embed security into every development cycle.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Product, Partner Ops and Business Development to translate partner/user needs into production‑ready solutions.
- Own growth and team development: hiring, budgeting, skill planning, and acquisition strategy.
- Champion agile, sustainable software practices and contribute to a purpose‑driven engineering culture.
**Required Skills**
- Proven leadership of large engineering organizations (5+ squads, >30 engineers).
- Deep expertise in back‑end architecture, microservices, and cloud platforms.
- Experience managing secure payment systems and PCI DSS environments.
- Knowledge of EV charging standards, APIs and ecosystem integration.
- Strong skills in data strategy, analytics, and transformation of data into value.
- Solid understanding of security, privacy and regulatory frameworks (PCI DSS, ISO 27001, TISAX).
- Agile and DevOps maturity, with a focus on continuous delivery, observability and incident management.
- Excellent stakeholder management and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Strategic thinking and ability to translate technical vision into actionable roadmaps.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, 5+ in senior leadership roles.
- Familiarity or certification in PCI DSS, ISO 27001, or similar security compliance frameworks is highly desirable.
