**Job title:** Finance Operations Lead
**Role Summary:**
Lead the day‑to‑day financial operations of a rapidly scaling tech company, ensuring accurate accounting, efficient processes, and robust controls across multi‑entity, multi‑currency environments. Partner with finance leadership and cross‑functional teams to optimize systems, drive continuous improvement, and provide reliable financial insights.
**Expactations:**
Deliver clean, timely financial records and close processes; design and implement scalable finance workflows and controls; serve as the primary operational finance liaison; maintain compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements; provide actionable data to support strategic decisions.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Oversee accounts payable, receivable, payroll coordination, and vendor payments across entities.
- Manage month‑end close: reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial statements.
- Maintain accurate, timely records in accounting systems for multi‑entity, multi‑currency operations.
- Design, document, and refine finance workflows, approval chains, and internal controls.
- Lead implementation and optimisation of ERP/accounting tools (NetSuite, Xero, etc.).
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and operations to improve data quality and reporting.
- Support Head of Finance with internal reporting (actuals, burn, vendor spend).
- Prepare audit, statutory filings, VAT, R&D claims, and regional compliance documentation.
- Act as operational finance contact for functional teams, providing insights, cost optimisation, and spend governance.
- Work with FP&A to reconcile plans, actuals, and forecasts.
**Required Skills:**
- 5+ years in finance operations, accounting, or financial control.
- Deep understanding of bookkeeping, PnL, AP/AR, and close processes.
- Experience in early‑stage or growth‑stage product businesses (hardware, manufacturing, deep tech).
- Proven ability to design processes and implement systems from scratch.
- Strong analytical, detail‑oriented, and organised.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management across all levels.
- Technical proficiency with ERP/accounting platforms (NetSuite, Xero, etc.).
- Familiarity with UK/US/Canadian VAT and R&D tax credits; audit or internal control exposure preferred.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification is a plus.
