Job Description
Job title: Data Analyst Internship – European Book Division Role Summary: Intern will support data-driven decision-making for the European Book Division, focusing on sales, inventory, and market dynamics across French-language publishing houses. Duties include developing performance indicators, segmenting titles and clients, building predictive sales models, and creating dashboards for senior management. Expectations: Provide actionable insights and reliable data tools that influence strategy for publishing, distribution, and point‑of‑sale operations. Collaborate with business units and IT/BI teams to continuously improve data quality and analytical capabilities. Deliver clear, data‑based recommendations to executives on publication planning, inventory, and market positioning. Key Responsibilities: – Analyze market dynamics (sell‑in/out, genre, network, back‑list vs new releases, seasonality). – Segment titles, customers, and sales channels using clustering and scoring techniques. – Identify key parameters for predictive modeling (sales lifecycle, long‑tail potential, venue profiles). – Build, test, and document predictive sales and inventory models to inform print runs, re‑issues, and store optimization. – Design and maintain interactive dashboards in Power BI or Qlik for executive use. – Automate data pipelines and analysis tasks with Python and SQL. – Cleanse, merge, and structure data from multiple source systems (sales, stock, titles, clients, distribution). – Work closely with IT/BI to evolve data sources, models, and delivery mechanisms. Required Skills: – Advanced data analysis and statistical modeling. – Proficient in SQL and Python (pandas, scikit‑learn, etc.). – Experience with business‑intelligence tools (Power BI, Qlik Sense or equivalent). – Ability to handle large, heterogeneous datasets. – Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. – Excellent communication and collaboration across cross‑functional teams. Required Education & Certifications: – Enrollment or completion of a top-tier engineering, data science, or analytics program (e.g., Grandes Écoles, equivalent). ---
