**Job Title:** Software Development Engineer II
**Role Summary:**
Design, develop, and ship full‑stack features for Remitly’s Small and Micro‑Business Pay team, enabling business owners to send and receive money globally. Lead technical strategy, architect scalable web and native solutions, and collaborate across product, compliance, legal, and engineering disciplines to accelerate delivery of high‑quality services.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver well‑tested, observable, and resilient code that meets performance, scalability, and security requirements.
- Apply best practices in software design, architecture, and testing to improve engineering excellence.
- Mentor teammates, contribute to hiring, code reviews, and onboarding processes.
- Drive continuous improvement of development workflows and cross‑team technical standards.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Build and maintain native and web application components using React / React‑Native and backend services in Java or Golang.
- Collaborate with UX, product, compliance, and legal stakeholders to define and ship features.
- Own end‑to‑end delivery of full‑stack features, from design through production release.
- Design scalable micro‑service and web architectures that support high traffic and data volume.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.) and automate testing, deployment, and observability.
- Mentor junior engineers, perform code reviews, and participate in the hiring process.
**Required Skills:**
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Proficiency in large‑scale web architecture and design patterns.
- Strong experience with React, React‑Native, and backend languages (Java, Golang).
- Expertise in software design, algorithms, and system design trade‑offs.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tooling (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab).
- Commitment to high code quality: automated testing, documentation, observability, and performance monitoring.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
