Job Title: Principal Systems Architect, Google Workspace
Role Summary:
Lead the design, implementation, and evolution of Remitly’s Google Workspace platform at global scale, ensuring secure, compliant, and efficient use of core collaboration tools. Own the governance model, integration strategy, and vendor relationship, while advising senior leadership on strategic direction, capacity, and risk management.
Expectations:
- Deliver an enterprise‑grade Google Workspace architecture that meets security, compliance, and operational excellence standards.
- Drive adoption of new features and lifecycle management while maintaining system reliability and data integrity.
- Serve as the authoritative subject‑matter expert on all aspects of Workspace, influencing cross‑functional initiatives and workforce productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and evolve Google Workspace architecture, including governance hierarchy and policy inheritance.
- Develop and maintain a multi‑year roadmap covering feature adoption, platform lifecycle, and migration plans.
- Define, enforce, and document governance, security, and compliance standards for Gmail, Drive, Vault, Chrome, and associated services.
- Oversee complex integrations between Workspace and enterprise systems (e.g., Workday, Okta) via APIs, automation, and webhooks.
- Manage vendor relationships with Google and associated third‑party vendors for strategy, contracts, and issue escalation.
- Produce high‑quality architectural specifications, standards, and best‑practice guides for engineering and operations teams.
- Mentor and elevate platform literacy across IT staff, fostering architectural thinking.
- Partner with IT, Security, and business stakeholders to drive adoption, effectiveness, and maturity of Workspace tools.
Required Skills:
- 7+ years in IT, with ≥4 years focused on Google Workspace architecture, security, and governance in a large global organization.
- Proven track record of leading large‑scale projects such as Workspace migrations, security rollouts, or system integrations.
- Expertise in enterprise architecture for cloud collaboration platforms.
- In‑depth knowledge of Google Workspace security best practices, including DLP, eDiscovery (Vault), and conditional access policies.
- Strong experience with REST APIs, JIRA APIs, webhooks, and automation tools for system integration.
- Solid understanding of SDLC, Agile, project management, risk, regulatory compliance, and security controls.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) Certified Professional and/or Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect preferred.
- Additional certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or CISSP are a plus.
