Job Description

**Job Title**: Draftsman / Design Engineer – VRD (Roads & Drainage)  **Role Summary** Execute design and drafting responsibilities across the full project life‑cycle for large national construction initiatives. Leverage advanced BIM/3‑D modelling to develop accurate VRD plans, perform volume calculations, and validate compliance with current regulations, ensuring precise cost estimates for trenching, road works, and drainage networks. **Expectations** - Deliver high‑quality 3‑D models and detailed drawings for trenching, roads, and utilities. - Support both pre‑qualification (AVP) and detailed construction documentation (DCE) phases. - Provide accurate volumetric and surface metrics to feed tender and costing processes. - Ensure all work meets applicable technical standards and construction codes. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Analyse project specifications and develop design options. 2. Model 3‑D VRD geometries for excavation, roadways, and network utilities. 3. Calculate cubic capacities, linear distances and surface areas. 4. Produce trenching, road, and utility plans using Mensura® or Covadis® CAD platforms. 5. Integrate topographic survey data (coupes, profiles, natural terrain) into design models. 6. Draft contouring and grading plans for platforms and landscaped zones. 7. Design layout for drainage (wet and dry) networks. 8. Verify design feasibility, cross‑check network intersections, and adjust volumes (buckets, cut/ fill). 9. Ensure compliance with national and regional civil engineering standards. 10. Collaborate with technical, economic, and construction teams to align design intent with project budgets and schedules. **Required Skills** - Proficiency in Mensura®, Covadis®, or equivalent BIM/CAD tools. - Strong 3‑D modelling, drafting, and precision calculation abilities. - Familiarity with French civil engineering norms (e.g., NF P 90‑113, ISO 9001). - Knowledge of topographic data integration and grading techniques. - Ability to generate accurate volumetric reports (cut / fill, benches). - Detail‑oriented with a focus on accuracy and clarity in technical drawings. - Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration. - Problem‑solving mindset and capacity to optimise design for cost and constructability. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Drafting, or related field. - Proven experience in VRD design/drafting, preferably on national‑scale projects. - Knowledge of or certification in Mensura®/Covadis® software is highly desirable.
