**Job title**
Infrastructure and Security Engineer
**Role Summary**
Provide high‑level infrastructure support and cyber‑security monitoring for a mid‑market organisation with up to 1,000 endpoints. Work closely with the Head of IT to maintain, patch, and secure endpoints using Microsoft Intune, Defender, Office 365, and third‑party tools (Huntress, Barracuda, TeamViewer, Siris Datto, VPN solutions). Ensure compliance with Cyber Essentials / ISO27001 and develop resilience against cyber threats.
**Expectations**
- Deploy and manage infrastructure across a diverse user base (≈500–1,000 users).
- Maintain up‑to‑date security posture, applying patches, monitoring alerts, and implementing controls.
- Conduct risk assessments, security audits, and incident responses.
- Communicate security risks, policies, and best practices to stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement of security policies and procedures.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Deliver day‑to‑day infrastructure support for Windows/Linux endpoints.
- Deploy, update, and patch operating systems, antivirus, and endpoint protection tools.
- Monitor event logs, alerts, and threat intelligence via Defender and Huntress.
- Manage VPN connectivity, Barracuda email filtering, Office 365 security, and TeamViewer remote access.
- Lead vulnerability scans, remediate findings, and close audit gaps.
- Participate in Cyber Essentials/ISO27001 compliance efforts, producing evidence and reporting.
- Document procedures, maintain a knowledge base, and provide user training.
- Collaborate with IT leadership on project planning, resource allocation, and technology upgrades.
**Required Skills**
- • Endpoint management (Intune, SCCM, System Center)
- • Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection, Office 365 security
- • Threat hunting tools (Huntress), email filtering (Barracuda), VPN & remote‑access solutions
- • Experience with Cyber Essentials / ISO27001 risk assessment & controls
- • Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and incident‑management skills
- • Effective written and verbal communication; stakeholder liaison
- • Automation / scripting (PowerShell, Bash) preferred
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- • Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance & Identity (SC‑900, SC‑300, SC‑400) or equivalent
- • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or similar
- • CompTIA Security+ or higher; CISSP / CISM / ISO27001 Lead Implementer optional.
